ACADEMICS
As a program of Nova Supports, Mission Ready Academy exists to close one specific gap: for students with disabilities receiving center-based ABA therapy, mental health treatment, or day services — from age 3 through 21 — academic instruction happens right alongside that care, not instead of it. Every subject we teach and every goal we set is aimed at the same target: helping your child be ready for whatever comes next.
OUR CORE ACADEMIC PILLARS ARE:
Math & Numeracy
We start with the basics of number sense: counting, one-to-one correspondence, and basic computation. Then, we build toward applying those skills to multi-step and real-world problems. We always work at a pace that matches your child's ability.
Reading & Literacy
From early print awareness and letter-sound recognition to fluency and comprehension, instruction meets your child exactly where they are. For some students, that means building the earliest pre-literacy foundations. For others, it means strengthening comprehension and confidence with grade-level text.
Writing
For students still developing the fine motor and pre-writing skills that come before letter formation, we build those foundations first. For students ready to write, the focus shifts to written expression — getting thoughts onto the page, or through a communication device, in a way that's functional and meaningful.
HOW ACADEMIC INSTRUCTION IS DELIVERED
AN INDIVIDUALIZED ACADEMIC PLAN FOR EVERY STUDENT
An individualized academic plan for every student. We begin with a baseline assessment, then build reading, writing, and math goals around your child's actual starting point.
GROUNDED IN REAL ACADEMIC STANDARDS
Depending on your child's needs, instruction follows either the Utah Core Standards or Utah's Essential Elements — the state's standards for students with more significant cognitive support needs — so every goal is appropriately calibrated, not arbitrary.
ONE-ON-ONE AND SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION
Students are taught individually or in small groups, whichever setting helps them engage and learn best.
COORDINATED WITH YOUR CHILD'S TREATMENT TEAM
Academic instructors work alongside your child's BCBA, therapist, or care team, so learning and therapy move forward together instead of on separate tracks.
TEACHERS SPECIFICALLY CHOSEN FOR AUTISTIC LEARNERS
Our instructors are selected for their expertise working with students with disabilities — many with backgrounds in behavior analysis, mental health, or special education — not simply for holding a traditional teaching license. All staff are background-checked.
TRACKABLE PROGRESS MONITORING
Beyond the initial baseline, we conduct at least one formal reassessment every year using recognized tools, and we share results with you in plain language, so that you can understand where exactly your child is on their academic journey.

What's next?
Mission Ready Academy is not meant to replace all the years of school from pre-K through high school.

We don't offer high school credit or a diploma. Our purpose is different: to keep academic skills moving forward during a season when they might otherwise stall, so that when your child is ready to return to school, start school for the first time, move into supported employment, or take the next step toward independence, they aren't starting from scratch.
